The Inspiration

"I love my father as the stars... he's a bright shining example and a happy twinkling in my heart."

Terri Guillemets

Today I only thought of my Papá and this is what I have to say:

Papá is how I normally call him, Dad when we rarely speak english... so many names for the wisest person in our family, the strongest to always remain firm and the one who questions every single aspect in every situation. Dad is a man of few words but has so much meaning with every phrase, when I was little he was a hero when I had problems and a playful monster when we were either at the park or playing at home...He showed me how beautiful nature is with the educational programs I use to watch on TV and still do now with my baby girl, he talked about the stars and planets, the nature of animals, the amazement of the deep sea, and to question everything.

Not all was fun and games and amazement, things were not given if not deserved it being good or bad, he was strict and such a perfectionist, in school projects and reading and in art, and basically everything that had to do with learning, if I did not try my hardest to him then I should not try at all, "you always give all yourself to anything you do" those were his words, Im still learning that concept and I still practice that in some occasions. Education and dicipline were always #1 no matter what it was, he was a math guru, he was a master at almost everything, he did something new everyday, that drive was his true essence, knowing how things worked, no wonder he became a mechanic, not only for cars but for every subject that was thrown at him.

My father tought me how to understand what I was reading because when I was little I didn't make the connection or better yet I didn't understand what the words meant until he showed me to use my imagination, in my teenage years we got really close I was always with him and most of the time just taking long walks he rewarded me so many things that I wanted only if I deserved them and always so thoughtful and there was never a day in which he never teached me a lesson in something.

In school and my so called friends were either very jealous or just plain disrespectful to the idea that I admired my Dad, they thought it was too weird, and that no father should be so close and I was very hurt by comments like those, but to me my father was beacon of wisdom and a great man...I know he is not perfect sometimes we do have our little arguments and they can reach very stressful levels, but I would not want to have this relationship with my Dad in any other way.

My inspiration for blogging is all him, he started his own blog about his poems, his ideas and the complications that go along with life, he puts his emotions in words, he really does put a lot of time into it, and I wanted a place to release my ideas, my own thoughts, a place where people can maybe connect with me to some degree, and also because a little part of just wants to be like Dad.

Thanks Dad for all your wisdom you are the person who I love, cherish and adore...you just keep giving and I love you for that.

"Bipolar"
by: El Cuarteto de Nos

Bajo y subo
Freno y sigo
Me levanto
Bip bip bip bipolar

Subo y bajo
Sigo y freno
Y me hundo
Bip bip bip bipolar

Bajo y subo
Freno y sigo
Me levanto
Bip bip bip bipolar

Subo y bajo
Sigo y freno
Y me hundo
Bip bip bip bipolar

Down como un boxeador underground
que nunca pasó el primer round
Pero enderezó la proa
y fuerte como una boa, siente que ganó mas peleas que Rocky Balboa
(No jodas)

y empieza a sonar mi alarma bip bip bip

Bajo y subo
Freno y sigo
Me levanto
Bip bip bip bipolar

Subo y bajo
Sigo y freno
Y me hundo
Bip bip bip bipolar

The Botany of Desire

I saw this documentary on Netflix the other night and I was amazed not only because the author was pretty much right about every single thing he wrote... but its amazing how we always thought we controlled the plants around the world, and well the documentary doesn't talk about all plants, its about the 4 main plants that have travelled the road to success just to gratify our desires, he said that apples have spread because of its sweetness, potatoes to gratify control, the control that we give it because we feed ourselves, and he talks about the wonders and fascinations over the tulip's beauty, and cannabis or "weed" because of its very powerful ways to make us go into a mental indulgence of the chemical it produces, they interview people who can legally grow it in Amsterdam, and Im astonished because it makes me see that these plants are GENIUSES!!!

The author is journalist named Michael Pollan, he narrates his own experiences with each of the plants, which he then intertwines with a small yet very exact explanation into the social history, we get to know who really was Johnny Appleseed, who which Pollans calls him a "human bumblebee".

Pollan also explains the necessity of chemicals, for farmers and of course the new ways of the future for the use of less chemicals, and the possibilities of genetically engineered potatoes, who were not very welcomed by society.

Its about a 2 hour program, but its fun to watch how real farmers do it all to survive and be at the mercy of their crops, because anything can happen especially if there was a bad winter or a dry season, there is also a pure apple farm grower in which all he does is grow apple trees and makes apple cider the old fashion way... many things can be learned and can give all of a us a huge amount of information and believe me you will want to buy the book and read it, and its a better appreciation for the plants we eat, see, smell, touch and taste...
Did you know that if you take the seeds from an apple and you start growing them each seed will be a totally individual apple tree? totally different from its father and the mother!!

In farms and cultivating the plants and crops people have had trial and error, its never easy and I liked the part of the documentary where there are many families in Peru that still and only eat potato as the only form of nutrition, and they call themselves "the potato culture" the result of good crops are their richness and their treasure and they have rituals for the nature spirits to always ask for good crops they are rituals from many centuries ago, the communication is amazing because they call the soil, "mother earth" which is also an interesting topic now that Im mentioning it... but the documentary is really nice, you will learn a lot and I totally recommend it!!

LAX

The Los Angeles International Airport

Went to the airport with my baby girl while we waited for the plane, and well some people don't like the airport and I see it as an amazing playground specially if you are me because I see pretty much everything as a plaything, and well you have to have that sort of mentality if you are with a 2 yr old baby girl, the night was super cold but the city and the airport looked so pretty had the chance to take pictures and small video in which I edited myself with the help of One True Media...

Had a really good time with my baby girl I seem to take her everywhere I go no matter where it is... she knows that she has to have fun everywhere I go and I always want her to feel that she can just chill and be herself with me, its the obviously beautiful beginning for a mother and her baby girl no?
